LARGE LAND CLAIM
DID YOU KNOW?
EASTERN SUBURBS OF PRETORIA SUBJECT TO LARGE LAND CLAIM
As you are aware a recent land claim has been lodged by an alledged tribal chief of the previously known Bakgalla Ba Lekhuleni Tribe, Mr Victor Lekhuleni, which involves a large portion of land in Pretoria which includes Die Wilgers, Equestria, Wapadrand, Silver Lakes, Meyerspark, Silverton, Val de Grace, Derdepoort, Eersterust, Mamelodi, Cullinan ect.
Although the aforementioned Chief has been murdered recently, Mrs Cindy Benyane, the Chief Director of the Land Claims Commissioner has confirmed that the claim is still in process irrespective of the aforementioned death.
As far as we are concerned the land in question was registered in the name of Mr Harry Struben in approximately 1862 which is almost 90 years before the Chief alleges they were removed from the land unlawfully and in our opinion their claim is questioned.
Irrespective of the aforementioned it seems however that each and every registered owner has to lodge an objection against the pending claim and it is advisable that all property owners in these effected areas protect their interests by doing so. All objections have to be lodged with the Land Claims Commissioner on or before the 27th of May 2015.
We hereby attach two draft letters that may be used for the purpose of objecting against the proposed claim and any one of the two may be completed and sent through to the Land Claims Commissioner by the registered owners (Annexure “A” or “B”).
Regards
Johan Muller
